He=92s an expert with modem dial-up, VPN, DSL and cable= modems, ISDN, frame relay, T1, and various networking environments. He und= erstands routers, hubs, switches, firewalls, and both local and large corpor= ate LAN and multi-site LAN, as well as WAN networking environments. =0D=0A= =0D=0AHe started in computers in the early 70=92s, inspired by his uncle who= programmed mainframe computers at that time. He began with an Eagle CP/M-b= ased PC, then moved to Qantel mini-computers, Radio Shack PC=92s, and then t= o the IBM-compatible PC=92s. He worked with the earlier forms of UNIX (XENI= X), with TRS-XENIX and SCO-XENIX, and then ULTRIX-32 (DEC), SCO-UNIX, AIX, a= nd SOLARIS. Linux experience includes Slackware, RedHat, Caldera, and SuSE = Linux. =0D=0A =0D=0ARich has also worked with portable PC=92s since the = =93Laptop=94 was introduced, with Toshiba, GRID and Compaq, and has continue= d with =93Notebook=94 and =93TabletPC=94 computers to understanding dial-up = networking, modems, and wireless connections. He helped at DELL COMPUTERS i= n building up the Tech Support department, and then in forming the Notebook = Support department where they later created the Latitude Notebook Support gr= oup.
